Note this: this is neither an attempt to establish a doctrine nor to despise any persons! The first article has created enough ripples.
I’ve always wondered if our clothes travel with our spirit when we die!
Still referring to Eliab in the story of 1 Sam 16:5-13, God revealed the yardstick (standard ) He uses.
…BUT THE LORD LOOKS AT THE HEART.
Recently, my mum visited me in school and I came out with handband(intentionally ). She looked at it and said it looks like handcuffs, like someone in bondage. I immediately replied, “what of your wristwatch!”
We can’t argue the fact, as is clearly stated in 1sam16:7 that God doesn’t judge by dressing (the Bible says outward appearance, which include dressing ). You cannot “bobo” God with your clothing. Otherwise, the Arabs would be the only candidates of heaven. We need to know that culture also plays a role. If the “standard” being imposed on us in Nigeria was God’s yardstick, all Europeans and Americans have gone to hell! Because, their own standard is different.
Back to the Bible.
God rejected Saul. Why? His heart? God rejected Eliab. Why? His heart. God accepted David. Why? His heart!
There is this widespread believe that you appear pious, we can be sure you’re saved. The 2nd part of 1Peter3:3 explains that dressing isn’t what makes you a christian lady, its that ornanent of a meek and quiet spirit. So whether you dress well or not isn’t as primary as how your spirit is adorned. If the fruit is not ripe within and you use carbide to modify the outside, it won’t work. Don’t christianize people, make them christians.
AT NEW BIRTH, IT WASN’T A NEW DRESS CODE, BUT A NEW HEART! It’s so important.
THE FACT THAT YOU DRESS WELL DON’T MAKE YOU A CHRISTIAN, IT’S VICE VERSA.
Am I still scriptural?????????
I’ve never once seen a good fruit which ripened via the natural gradual process taste bad. No! The same way a Christian that undergoes transformation via the God-ordained mechanism of the Word, will not produce unpleasant result. IF YOU’RE SEDUCTIVELY DRESSED, WE CAN DOUBT IF YOU’VE GOT ETERNAL LIFE. The Holy Spirit couldn’t have done that. Jesus doesn’t dress provocatively. And Jesus lives through the believer.
God never qualified David on basis of his dressing. When David came in verse 12, the appearance of that guy was on point.
QUIT TRYING TO CHANGE PEOPLE’S DRESSING, YOU MIGHT END UP BREEDING HYPOCRITES. CHANGE THE HEART AND THE DRESSING WILL CHANGE!
For now, …that’s all!
