How to Influence your Mentor

I often get asked, “Can you be my mentor? Can you please help me?”

Wisdom leads.

There are literally hundreds of possible and better mentors all around you. You just need to look and be persistent in getting their attention.

Where To Find Mentors

Mentors are literally all around you. You just need to be on the lookout.

They could be in your family. Are your parents successful in their field and in their finances? Although, we often do not enjoy when our parents preach to us, you are wasting a valuable resource if you don’t ask your parents to teach you! They’re free and they love you. It will give them great pride if you succeed.

How about your boss or your boss’s boss? I’m confident they’d be eager and willing to share some time with you and spill their own secrets. Do you have relatives or relatives of friends who are successful? Robert Kiyosaki had his best friend’s father whom he called his Rich Dad. I had a few of Rich Dads growing up too.

Finally there are those in the business of mentoring. They write books, give seminars and conduct coaching programs. They are usually more structured in their approach and have a system of teaching in place. If the program has been running for some time, you can also be assured that the program works.

FEMALE SOLDIERS AREN’T JUST USELESS

❤️

So, I conduct a “show” on my WhatsApp Status, I call it Reflections. A show for collective retrospect on ideas and things we otherwise don’t mind. I want to make an habit of documenting them here. Each edition successfully conducted will be documented here for lasting reference rather than just forget it in my file. The most recent topic was: What Purpose Does Nigerian Female Soldiers Serve?

Reaction for a Reflectoid😂

Ever thought of this? What exactly does Nigerian female soldiers do? They don’t go to war front, don’t engage terrorists nor engage in virtually any serious combat. Do they get same salary, entitlements (though meager) like their male colleagues who do the actual fighting, sacrifice and dying for the country?

The SACRIFICE of a FATHER

Sacrifice of a father

Please READ, COMMENT and SHARE.

I heard a story sometimes ago and would love to share with you today. #FathersDay #Father #Men #Sacrifice #Mandate #BecomingaMan #RealMen #TrueFathers

It was a family, let’s say of Mrs & Mr. King. Mr King works in a Factory in a neighboring town and earns monthly salary while Mrs. King was a petty trader. One day, their only child King Jnr. came home from College with a request worth 10,000. Mr. King, however gave his son 9,000 and promised to personally bring the balance to him in school before the week runs out. King Jr. unhappy with the fact that his Dad couldn’t give him all the money he wanted, stormed out of his father’s room grumbling and ranting, went to his mum with teary eyes. “Daddy only gave me 9000, and he…”. His mother interrupted, “My dear, don’t worry, there is a money in my care from the Christian Women Society, I will give you 3000 from it. I will return it when I make sales but don’t tell your Dad. OK? ” King Jrn jumb on his mum, hung around her neck and planted a kiss one her lips. “You are the best mom”.

Few minutes later Mr. King was ready to go to work. “Wouldn’t you eat, it’s just 7am and your work starts at 9:30, isn’t it just 30 minutes bus to the factory? ” Mrs King asked. “No, don’t worry, I am already running late” he replied sipping a cup of tea. Muttered some prayers and zooooom – went out.

The 4 Industrial Revolutions

So lately and during this lockdown, whenever I want to have a good laugh I go on YouTube and search Malema – a South African Legislator and leader of EFF. It’s always a mixture of humor and sparkling brilliance as he keeps the South African leadership on their toes. So, of the so many videos that comes up on the search I came across one where an EFF legislator, Dr. Ndlozi, quizzed the Deputy President about his knowledge of the 4 phases of industrial revolution and what’s not check out the video here. Unfortunately, like most African leaders the DP messed up. They are so out of touch with information, just pure bloody politicians who understands the power of numbers. How can you lead a nation into the fourth revolution if you don’t know where it was all coming from and even the basics of the fourth itself. So find below the best summary of the FOUR REVOLUTIONS BY THEIR TIMELINES as presented by Institute of Entrepreneurship Development and written by Katerina Pouspourika

Throughout history, people have always been dependent on technology. Of course, the technology of each era might not have the same shape and size as today, but for their time it was certainly something for people to look at.

People would always use the technology they had available to help make their lives easier and at the same time try to perfect it and bring it to the next level. This is how the concept of the industrial revolution began. Right now, we are going through the fourth industrial revolution, aka Industry 4.0.

Here is a few information in the three previous industrial revolutions, leading to today!

The first Industrial Revolution 1765

The first industrial revolution followed the proto-industrialization period. It started at the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th. The biggest changes came in the industries in the form of mechanization. Mechanization was the reason why agriculture started to be replaced by the industry as the backbone of the societal economy.

At the time people witnessed massive extraction of coal along with the very important invention of the steam engine that was the reason for the creation of a new type of energy that later on helped speed up the manufacturing of railroads thus accelerating the economy.

The second Industrial Revolution 1870

Following the first Industrial Revolution, almost a century later we see the world go through the second. It started at the end of the 19th century, with massive technological advancements in the field of industries that helped the emergence of a new source of energy. Electricity, gas, and oil.

The result of this revolution was the creation of the internal combustion engine that started to reach its full potential.  Other important points of the second industrial revolution was the development for steel demand, chemical synthesis and methods of communication such as the telegraph and the telephone.

Finally, the inventions of the automobile, and the plane in the beginning of the 20th century are the reason why, to this day, the Second Industrial Revolution is considered the most important one!

The Third Industrial Revolution 1969

Another century passes and we bear witness to the Third Industrial Revolution.  In the second half of the 20th century, we see the emergence of yet another source of untapped, at the time, energy. Nuclear energy!

The third revolution brought forth the rise of electronics, telecommunications and of course computers. Through the new technologies, the third industrial revolution oped the doors to space expeditions, research, and biotechnology.

In the world of the industries, two major inventions, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Robots helped give rise to an era of high-level automation.

Industry 4.0

For many people, Industry 4.0 is the fourth Industrial Revolution, although there is a large portion of people that still disagree. If we were to view Industry 4.0 as a revolution then we would have to admit that it is a revolution happening right now. We are experiencing it everyday and its magnitude is yet unknown.

Industry 4.0 started in the dawn of the third millennium with the one thing that everyone uses every single day. The Internet. We can see the transition from the first industrial revolution that rooted for technological phenomenon all the way to Industry 4.0 that develops virtual reality worlds, allowing us to bend the laws of physics.

The 4 Industrial Revolutions shape the world. Worldwide economies are based on them. There are programmes and projects being implemented all around the world, focusing on helping people take advantage of the marvels of the fourth revolution during their everyday lives. The fourth revolution speaks of the internet of things.

I hope you have been able to learn on or two things. Let me predict that the fifth revolution is here with us. Post covid19, the will experience a surge in the acceptance and use of fluid currency – the crypto currency and a pronounced increase in use of body inplant and chips. It will affect/infleunce commerce, health and international relations.

199,325 Nigerians Died around 1920, Lesson for 2020.

4th May, 2020, sounds familiar, right? That day sounds like freedom, right? Unfortunately it is the day your government say “onward, we careless about how many of you who dies, and just maybe the more cases and death from covid-19 we have the easier it would be to convince you to stay at home”. The President in his characteristic unpresidential speech on Monday 27th April, 2020, practically ignored the concerns of citizens as regarding paliatives or how to ensure the alliviate the effect of lockdown period on Individuals, SMEs and the Private Sector. It’s obvious the President is tired of the stay-at-home campaign or has run out of idea on sustaining the economy during and post-covid. He definitely feels it better to err on the side of the pressure from the populace. So all of a sudden, we now have a president that hears us, recently we read in the news of an approval of Oransanye Recommendation on Reducing and merging government agencies an age long leakage of government funding, so let’s thank God for Covid-19 right? Making the stupid wise!

130 Million Books! What’s your excuse?

“Books are the most quiet and lasting friends, the easiest to reach, the wisest counselors and the most patient teachers.” Charles W. Eliot

Reading is important because it develops our thoughts, gives us endless knowledge and lessons to read while keeping our minds active. The image above is a result of a Google search on “how many books have been published”. Truth is there will certainly be more than the purported 130million. Someone said any one who can read but doesn’t is not better than someone who cannot.

JUST IN🙆COVID-19 ON WHATSAPP & TWITTER

While countries and world leaders are trying their best to curb and reduce the speed of the spread of Corona virus a new twist is here with us. Before that, let me for a moment comment on the latest development on a WhatsApp voice note that went viral in Nigeria today. Three things you can’t take away from that VN are (a) that guy knows what he is talking about (b) Numbers are under reported not just only here in Nigeria but everywhere else (c) Nigerian Government is not ready! You see, as much as the mortality rate of this virus is predicted on a person’s past health history and immune strength, so is the potency of the virus and the capacity to curb it also premised on the responsibility of the government towards health care in the past.

BEING POSITIVE ISN’T ALWAYS POSITIVE

Be Positive

Hmmmmm… without sounding mischievous I have come to realize Being Positive isn’t always a goodnews. This concept was something I really struggled with in secondary school. I found is difficult why they would say someone is HIV Positive, it feels like a sugarcoat on a bitter pill.

However a dictionary definition of positive is instructive. Positive: /adj/ – “consisting in or characterized by the presence rather than the absence of distinguishing features”. With this definition I am game. So, friends positive isn’t always positive, especially in medical assessment, not so in educational assessment though.

I pray we shall not be positive to Corona Virus in Jesus name. Please stay healthy and hygienic and practice Social Distancing (avoid gatherings and crowds). Stay alive. This time will be over but not you, so stay alive and for once don’t be positive please.
